Self-assembly – how to install your new wooden building?
Our wooden structures come with clear installation instructions, allowing you to assemble them yourself with basic tools and a helping hand. However, for larger or more complex buildings, such as log cabins, lodges or prefabricated houses, we recommend professional assembly.
After delivery in a flat packed kit we advise to check all parts carefully for any damage or missing parts. A detailed parts list is included. All parts are clearly marked for easy identification and installation according to the manual.
If you notice any damage or missing parts, please contact us immediately. We will make sure everything is delivered in perfect condition.
Delivery and preparation
Our wooden buildings are supplied as a flat packed kit .
✔ Check that all parts are present.
✔ Store the parts on a dry, clean surface to avoid stains on untreated wood.
Tools required for assembly
To ensure a smooth installation, make sure you have the following basic tools on hand:
• Work gloves
• Universal knife
• Tape measure
• Spirit level
• Drilling machine
• Hammer
• Rubber hammer
• Stepladder
A complete list of required tools is included in the installation manual.
Foundation
A solid and level foundation is essential for the stability and longevity of your wooden building. Depending on the type of construction, the foundation can consist of:
✔ Concrete slabs
✔ Thermal blocks
✔ Wooden frame
✔ Crawl space
For larger buildings, a concrete foundation is recommended.
We also offer screw foundations as an option.
Manual and assembly
Before installation, read the installation manual carefully. This will help you to follow the process step by step and prevent mistakes. If you notice that you need extra help while reading, we advise you to call in a professional.
🔹 The correct order: Start with the basic structure, then the roof, and finally place windows and doors.
Installation of the roof
The roof is a crucial part of the construction and must be finished completely waterproof. Some models are supplied without roofing as standard. We recommend ordering a suitable roofing at the same time. Wooden roof planks alone are not sufficient as a waterproof seal.
Installing windows and doors
Please note: Windows and doors should not be screwed directly into the wooden structure. Wood expands and contracts due to temperature and humidity changes. The frames are designed with space for this natural movement. Follow the instructions carefully to avoid damage.
Treatment and maintenance
All untreated wooden products should be treated with paint or a high quality wood protection within one week of installation, both inside and out. This is essential for the longevity of the structure and maintains our 5-10 year anti-rot guarantee (depending on the product).
The frames of doors and windows should also be treated with a protective layer immediately after unpacking.
📌 Heat treated wood or factory painted/painted products have special maintenance instructions. These are included in the installation package.
More information about maintenance can be found on our website.
